'National Legal Service Day' Celebration @ BJILS on 09.11.2024

 9th November, 2024 @ BJILS: The Institution has celebrated 'National Legal Service Day' by organizing legal awareness programme to the students of 5 Year B.B.A.,LL.B and 3 Year LL.B Courses. The institution has inaugurated Legal Services Clinic, National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit and Youth Red Cross Wing of the Institute to facilitate The event featured prominent legal expert Mr. K. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, a member of the Bangalore Bar Association, as the chief resource person. The programme began with a prayer song sung by Ananya, followed by a warm welcome address from Dr. Koushik C, the Student Welfare Officer, who introduced the committee. The formal inauguration was symbolized by watering the plant, after which Prof. Sudhin M S, the Staff Coordinator, outlined the committee’s plan of action for the year. In the key note address by Mr. Bhat, he has emphasized upon the importance of legal aid by quoting it to be not a charitable service but a constitutional right for the marginalized communities. He also spoke about various facets of legal aid such as free legal representation, consultation, and alternative dispute resolution. He encouraged law students to actively participate in para-legal volunteering and legal literacy camps to make a tangible impact in society. The presidential address was delivered by Mr. Prashanth D. Souza, followed by remarks from the Chief Guest, Mrs. Latha, who also shared her thoughts on the importance of legal aid and its broader societal implications. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Raghavendra Prabhu. A skit performed by law students on the theme of Legal Awareness was the final highlight of the event, offering an engaging and educational end to the day’s proceedings.
