12th November, 2025 @ BJILS: The Bhuvana Jyothi Incubation Centre on National Security (BJICNS) in collaboration with the Lions Club, Kadri Hills, Mangaluru has organized a seminar on the theme “Transition of Trade and Commerce as the Pillars of National Security” on 12th November, 2025 in the Bhuvana Jyothi Auditorium. The seminar explored deliberated about the role of Trade and Commerce as the pillars for the economic stability of the nation and National Security. The program comprised of four technical sessions from eminent subject experts. First session was on 'Security Risks in Trade and Commerce' by Shri Madhusoodana Bhat, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangaluru, who elaborated on the strategies to mitigate risks in trade operations and protection of economic interest. Second session was held on 'Regulatory Framework' by Shri Anwesh Shetty, Chartered Accountant, Mangaluru. The talk focused on to the need of regulatory adherence and transparency in business scenario. Session three held deliberations on 'Case Studies and Lessons Learned by Dr. T. V. Rajesh, Superintendent of Central Taxes, Bengaluru by highlighting the real-life experiences in the fields of Taxation and Trade Compliance. Session 4, deliberated on 'Corporate Compliance and Risk Management' by Dr. Yathish Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, University College, Mangaluru emphasised on risks in the trade and commerce in the forms of different frauds and its mitigation. The seminar witnessed an active enrollment with 46 offline and 50 online participants. Students pursuing PUC, UG and PG courses from Dakshina Kannada District has participated in the seminar leading to a positive network between the participated institutes. The inaugural program was presided over by Shri. R Prashanth D'Souza, Secretary of the Bhuvana Jyothi Education Trust. Mr. Madhusoodana Bhat, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangaluru has inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Mr. Raghavendra Prabhu, President of the trust, Mr. Prashanth N, Correspondent of the institute, Mrs Latha A., Treasurer and Mr. Sharanappa M. Bhavi, Adviser of the institute and Ms. Suha Sheikh and Ms. Ananya, student convenors of the seminar were present during the occasion. The valedictory program was presided over by Sri. K Sanjeeva Gowda, President, Lions Club, Kadri Hills, Mangalore. The members of the Governing Council of the institute along with the members of the Lions Club have distributed the seminar certificates to the participants. The feedback session by the participants was conducted and the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Pradeep M.D., Principal, Bhuvana Jyothi Institute of Legal Studies. Ms. Ananya performed the Master of Ceremony for the inaugural session. The welcome address for the technical sessions were given by Ms. Shruthi, Ms. Bhoomika, Ms. Suha Sheikh and the Vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Anusha, Ms. Monisha and Mr. Neeraj.
