Elocution Competition in connection to the Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on 15th April, 2026

15th April, 2026 @ BJILS: The institute in association with its Cultural Club and NSS Club has organised an 'Elocution Competition' to students on the topic 'Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Architect of the Indian Democracy'. The program started with a welcome address by Prof. Kiran N, Dr. Pradeep M.D., Principal of the institute has given a brief note on the contributions of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and the importance of organising the event. Mr. Ranjith Ballal, student of LL.B and Mr. Harish, student of B.B.A.,LL.B has given a short speech on the topic. 









 

Students participated in the 2nd Zonal Workshop on 'From Classroom to Courtroom, Law Students as Catalysts for Social Justice'.

13th April, 2026 @ Alva's College, Moodbidri: The institute has participated in the 2nd Zonal Workshop organised jointly by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Karnataka State Law University, Hubballi in association with Alva's Education Foundation, Moodbidri on the theme 'From Classroom to Courtroom, Law Students as Catalysts for Social Justice' on 13th April, 2026. The workshop was inaugurated by Justice, H.P. Sandesh, Judge, High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru. The program was presided over by Dr. Mohan Alva, Chairman, Alva's Education Foundation, Moodbidri. The Chief Guests of the program includes Shri. H. Shashidhara Shetty, Member Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bengaluru, Shri Basavaraj, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairperson, DLSA, D.K., Mangaluru, Dr. C Basavaraju, Vice Chancellor, KSLU, Dr. Jayakara Shetty M, Vice Chancellor, Bengaluru University, Bengaluru, Shri. Madhukar P Bhagavath, Chairman, TLSC, Moodbidri and Smt. Zaibunnisa, Member Secretary, DLSA, D.K. Mangaluru. Session 1 was conducted on the Topic- The Legal Services Authority Act, 1987 and its Objectives by Shri H. Shashidhara Shetty, District Judge and Member Secretary, KSLSA, Bengaluru. Session 2 was on Legal Services Clinics in Law Colleges by Dr. B.P. Mahesha, Pricipal, Sharada Vilas Law College, Mysore. Session 3 was on Organising Legal Services Camps and Outreach Programmes: Roles of Legal Educational Institutions by Shri. Shridhara Prabhu, Advocate, High Court of Karnataka, Bengaluru. The opportunity was give to the Para Legal Volunteers to clarify their doubt with the resource persons. About 14 colleges of Manglaore Zone have participated in the event. The students earned quality information about conducting field based legal aid survey and legal aid.

Celebration of Birth Anniversary of Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram on 6th April, 2026 @ BJILS

 6th April, 2026 @ BJILS: The institute in association with the SC/ST Cell of the College celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram on 6th April 2026 commemorating his birthday held on 5th April. The programme aimed to introduce students to his contributions based on the ideals of equality, social justice, and public service. The event started with a welcome address by Mr. Kiran, Assistant Professor of Law. Mr. Harish, a student of 5-year B.B.A., LL.B., delivered a speech about the life and achievements of Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram, shedding light on his role in India’s freedom struggle and his tireless efforts to uplift marginalised communities. He also emphasized Dr. Jagjivan Ram’s political contributions as Union Minister to hold portfolios of defence and agriculture. Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram was widely respected for promoting social justice and equality. He played a crucial role in advocating for the rights of the underprivileged by eradicating discrimination. His leadership in strengthening India’s agricultural sector with green reforms and his defence decisions during challenging times stand as a testament of his true leadership and patriotism. The programme was graced by the presence of  Sanghamithra Roy Pai, IQAC Chairperson, Mr. Ashoka Acharya, Student Welfare Officer, Mrs Shilpa B., Assistant Professor of Law and Mr. Dhanraj, Red Cross Coordinator of the Institute. The programme instilled the spirit of discipline, dedication, social concern and patriotism among the participants. Expert talk by Adv. Seema Bhaskar on 'Introduction to Moot Court' to the students of 3 Year LL.B Course on 28th March, 2026

28th March, 2026 @ BJILS: The Institute has organised a moot court session on 28 March 2026 on the topic “Introduction to Moot.” The session was conducted by Adv. Seema Bhaskar, Advocate, Udupi provided valuable insights to the students of 3 Year LL.B course. The programme aimed at introducing students to the fundamentals of moot court practice and its relevance in legal education. Moot court is an important academic exercise to enable law students to learn research skills, analytical ability, drafting competence, public speaking, and courtroom trial etc. The session exposed students to the practical aspects, court discipline etc. Adv. Seema Bhaskar introduced the concept of moot court in an engaging manner. She discussed the structure of moot court proceedings, the roles of the counsel, the significance of presentation and preparation, and legal reasoning in arguments. The discussion emphasised the need for time management, teamwork, and confidence to participate in the moot court competitions. The resource person educated students about the way of bridging the gap between theory and practice in the moot court sessions. The students were motivated to engage in the moot court activities to acquaint themselves with various aspects of law and professional vigour. The interaction helped about 40 participants to be motivated to be involved in the moot court practices.
