Online Session to Access Law Journals in CDJ Platform held on 12th June, 2026
NSS Camp - Community Service carried by the NSS Volunteers at Shirthady and Makki Villages on 7th and 8th June, 2026
7th and 8th June, 2026 @ Makki and Shirthady: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Bhuvana Jyothi Institute of Legal Studies (BJILS), Shirthady, organized a impactful 2-day NSS Special Camp and Inauguration Ceremony at the Bhuvana Jyothi. The event saw active participation from the management, faculty, and enthusiastic student volunteers dedicating themselves to community service.
Day
1: Grand Inauguration and Cultural Evening
The camp commenced on Sunday, 7th June 2026, at 2:30 PM with a formal inauguration ceremony. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Sheshappa Amin K, a Professor and NSS Program Officer from the Department of Sociology at Government First Grade College, Mudipu. Drawing deeply from his extensive personal journey and professional expertise, Dr. Amin spoke passionately about his years of experience as an NSS Programme Officer, sharing insightful anecdotes about how community service transforms students into empathetic leaders and highlighting the invaluable role that the NSS plays in structural nation-building.
Joining
him as the Guest of Honour was Sri. Vinaya Chandra Jain, a Science Graduate
Assistant and NCC Officer from Jain High School, Moodbidri. Reflecting on his
own youth, Sri. Jain walked the audience down memory lane by sharing his fond
experiences as an NSS volunteer during his student days, illustrating how the
core values of discipline, teamwork, and selfless service acquired during camp
life shaped his entire career.
The
inauguration was presided over by Sri. Raghavendra Prabhu, the president of the
Bhuvana Jyothi Education Trust, while Dr. Pradeep M D, the Principal of BJILS,
Smt Latha, Treasurer and Sri. Prashanth N, the college Correspondent, also
graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
Cultural Evening: Following the formal afternoon session, the camp transitioned into an engaging cultural evening starting at 7:00 PM. The NSS volunteers showcased their diverse talents through a series of cultural programs aimed at promoting social awareness, which lasted until 8:30 PM. After the performances, the volunteers and coordinators gathered for a community dinner. The evening concluded with an analytical discussion session where the team reviewed the day’s events and strategically planned the schedules and responsibilities for the fieldwork mapped out for the following morning.
Day 2: Extensive
Shramadhan and Valedictory Function
The second day, Monday, 8th June 2026, was entirely dedicated to Shramadhan (voluntary labour) and community cleanliness drives across multiple prominent locations in Shirthady, running from 9:00 AM. The NSS volunteers divided into teams to conduct cleaning, repair, and beautification work at several vital spots in the Shirthady region. They carried out rigorous repair, clean-up, and beautification work at the local Primary Health Centre to improve hygiene standards for patients. Following this, the volunteers shifted their focus to public infrastructure, cleaning the government quarters and the main bus stand situated near the Jawaharlal Nehru High School in Makki. The cleanliness drive further extended to the preservation of local heritage as the students thoroughly cleaned the premises of the Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple in Arjunapura, Shirthady
Valedictory
Ceremony
After a gruelling day of physical labour, the camp concluded with a Valedictory Function held at 3:30 PM in the Bhuvana Jyothi Auditorium. The dignitaries appreciated the hard work of the volunteers. The successful execution of the two-day camp was seamlessly coordinated by Student Convenors Ms. Suraksha and Mr. Nikhil (2nd Year LL. B), under the guidance of Program Convenor Prof. Kiran N (NSS Program Officer, BJILS), along with the college Management, Principal, Staff, and Student Council.

Legal Aid- Document Scrutiny and Legal Advise Camp for the shortlisted problems of the residents of Adopted Villages held on 07th June, 2026
7th June, 2026 @ LAC of BJILS: The institute, in association with its 'Legal Aid Cell', has organised a Document Scrutiny and Legal Advice Camp for the residents of the adopted village to assist them in their legal problems on 7th June, 2026 from 9.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m in the college auditorium. The scrutiny committee was presided over by Sri. R Prashanth D'Souza, Secretary, Bhuvana Jyothi Education Trust, Sri. K Pawan Kumar, Advocate, Moodbidri, Mr. Saleem, Document Writer and Mrs Latha Acharya, Treasurer, Bhuvana Jyothi Education Trust, Moodbidri. About 55 residents of the adopted village have come to the legal aid camp to make scrutiny of thier documents and take legal advice from the experts. About 45 para legal volunteers of the institute have actively participated in the event and worked in different committees to make the camp successful. The short listed applications will be further brought to the notice of the District Legal Services Authority, Mangaluru, for further action.
