Anavaran- 2K26 An Orientation Program for 1ST Year B.B.A.,LL.B students on 25th September, 2026 @ BJILS

25th September, 2026 @ BJILS: The institute under the IQAC Cell and Student council 2026-27 has organised an orientation program to the 1st year B.B.A.,LL.B students on 25th September, 2026. The orientation program comprised of a two technical sessions. First technical session was taken by Mrs. Sumalatha, Retd. Professor of Management and Commerce, on the topic 'Listen to Understand Speak to Connect' and second session was taken by Mrs. Thara S Shetty, Financial Advisor, LIC of India on the topic 'Business Meets Law'. Mrs. Sumalatha has focused her interaction with regard to communication, ways of communicating best, types of communication, usage of synergy in communication, grape wine and its lacunas etc. She encouraged students to practice the best two ways of communication and listen well to understand the situation empathetically. Mrs. Thara S Shetty has basically carried an interactive sessions about the intersection of business and law in the present scenario. She has shown light on the career opportunities for the B.B.A. students in the field of law and how they have to build their intellectual foundation over the two disciplines. She has also encouraged students to come forward and speak over a topic spontaneously without stage fear. The program was convened by Ms. Priya Jenita Dsouza, assistant professor and Co-convened by Mr. Dhanraj, assistant professor of the institute. About 40 students have participated in the event. 

 

Session on 'Consumer Rights and Education' by Mr. M Sheethal Kumar Jain @ BJILS for the students.

17th September, 2026 @ BJILS: The institute in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Consumer Cell has organised a session on “Consumer Rights and Education” on 17th September, 2026 for all the students of the 3 Year LL.B. and 5 Year B.B.A., LL.B courses. The programme aimed to create consumer awareness among the students. The session was to discuss on the live consumer cases with the students. Mr. Sheetal Kumar Jain, National Secretary, Consumers Confederation of India (CCI), was the resource person for the programme. Mr. Mohammad Shaheed, Joint Secretary, Consumer Forum, Dakshina Kannada District, and Mr. Abdul Salam, Senior Document Writer, were the chief guests. Mrs. Suvarna Sheetal Kumar, Director, Consumer Forum, Dakshina Kannada District, was also present on the occasion. The programme was presided over by Mr. Prashanth N, Correspondent of the Institute. Mr. Dhanraj, Assistant Professor & Coordinator of the Consumer Cell was on the occassion. Dr. Pradeep M. D, Principal of the institute has thanked the resource person for accepting to spend his time in the institute. Ms. Anusha of 3 Year LL.B was the mater of ceremony. Ms. Suraksha and team invoked the blessings of the god by prayer. Mr. Ranjith of 3 Year LL.B., proposed the welcome address. Ms. Roopa of 5 Year B.B.A, LLB course has introduced the resource person to the gathering. Mr. Sheetal Kumar Jain explained about the importance of asking questions whenever people come across the violation of consumer rights. He explained real-life cases to show light on the consumer dispute and its redressal mechanism. There was an interactive Question and Answer session after the expert talk, during which the resource person clarified the doubts of the audience. Ms. Yasmin of 3 Year LL.B., proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Sheetal Kumar Jain was felicitated for his service to the consumer protection field by Mrs. Latha, Treasurer of the Institute and Mr. Prashanth N, the correspondent of the institute. The all faculty members namely Ms. Priya Jenita D'Souza, Mr. Kiran N., Mr. Ashoka Acharya, Ms. Sridevi, Ms. Rashmitha, Ms. Deona D'Souza and Mr. Jason Rebello, were present on the occasion. 

Orientation on the directives of the Bar Council of India on the 'Professional Ethics, Social Media Conduct and Internship Guidelines by Ms. Sreedevi Narayan @ BJILS on 01.08.2026

01st August, 2026 @ BJILS: The institute, in association with its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Internship Committee, has organised an Orientation Program for the students of the institute on 01st August, 2026 to sensitise students to the directives issued by the Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi vide Circular No. BCI: D:4657/2026 dated 17 July 2026. The orientation program aimed at sensitising students to the ethical responsibilities towards professional conduct, sensible usage of social media, due care to be taken while creating any legal content, and compliance while visiting the internship agencies. 

Objectives of the Orientation Program

• To create awareness among students on to the mandatory directives issued by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
• To explain the standards of professional ethics and dignity to be followed by the law students. 
• To educate students on the responsible use of Social Media and Digital Platforms.
• To familiarise students with the regulations governing AI-generated and synthetic legal content.
• To create awareness of the mandatory declarations required from the students at the time of admission and before undertaking internships.
• To encourage students to uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and accountability throughout.

Proceedings of the Orientation Programme

The orientation commenced at 10.00 a.m. The resource person Ms Sreedevi Narayanan, Assistant Professor of the institute. She explained the synopsis of the circular  Bar Council of India Circular dated 17 July 2026. The session emphasised that legal education extends beyond academic excellence and requires students to adhere to the highest standards of professional ethics and responsible public conduct. The resource person elaborated on the ethical use of social media by law students and legal interns, highlighting the importance of maintaining the dignity of the legal profession while using digital platforms. Students were informed about the restrictions relating to the publication of legal opinions, case analyses, promotional content, and AI-generated or synthetic legal materials without complying with professional standards. The session further explained the internship guidelines prescribed by the Bar Council of India, including the mandatory execution of undertaking declarations and affidavits before undertaking internships. The legal implications of non-compliance with these directions and the disciplinary consequences of violating professional ethics were also discussed in detail. Following the orientation programme, students were informed about the procedure for collecting the mandatory undertaking forms from the college office and were instructed to comply with all procedural requirements within the stipulated time.
